My heart is overflowing with gratitude as I sit down with a warm mug of hot cocoa, reflecting on the whirlwind of the past week. On Saturday, August 9, 2025, I became a wife, stepping into a new chapter filled with love, faith, and a few unexpected twists. From our sacred marriage to new church callings and the quiet chaos of life’s changes, I’m thrilled to share this season with you, my Thread and Bloom family, and weave these moments into the eternal home we’re building.
A Sacred Beginning: Our Marriage
Last Saturday, I stood hand in hand with my beloved, pledging our lives to each other in a simple, faith-filled ceremony. Surrounded by wildflowers that seemed to whisper the “Bloom” in Thread and Bloom, we shared vows that carried the weight of our love and our LDS faith. The day was a beautiful blend of joy and reverence, with family and friends filling the air with laughter and love. That night, our home buzzed with warmth as my husband’s two brothers and his best friend with his wife stayed over, turning our first hours as newlyweds into a lively, laughter-filled gathering.
Planning the day was a labor of love—think late nights stitching table runners by hand and picking hymns that stirred our souls. Yet, the real beauty was in the promises we made, grounded in our shared commitment to build a life rooted in faith. Those moments, chaotic and sacred, feel like the first stitches in the quilt of our eternal family.
Called to Serve: A New Chapter of Faith
The very next day, Sunday, I was set apart as a Young Women’s advisor, a calling that feels like a sacred trust. My husband also received a calling as an advisor to the priests quorum, and together, we’re stepping into roles that stretch our hearts and faith. On Wednesday night, I attended my first Young Women’s activity, diving into this new responsibility with a mix of excitement and humility. Guiding these incredible young women through lessons, activities, and moments of growth is a privilege, and I’m eager to share stories of faith and creativity—maybe even a few sewing projects!
My husband’s work with the young men feels like a parallel path, as we both pour into the rising generation. These callings, coming right after our wedding, remind me of Doctrine and Covenants 132:19, which speaks of covenants that bind us for eternity. It’s a humbling reminder that God’s timing weaves purpose into every season, even when it feels like a lot to carry. Together, we’re learning to serve with love, trusting that these efforts are part of building our house of faith.
Embracing Change: The Name Transition
Another thread in this week’s tapestry is my decision to take my husband’s last name. It’s a choice rooted in love and tradition, a way to honor our new union while stepping into this fresh chapter. Thread and Bloom will remain unchanged (phew!).
Navigating the name change has been a journey of its own—think endless forms for driver’s licenses, bank accounts, and so much more. It’s a process that tests patience, but it feels symbolic, like adding a new patch to a quilt. Each step reminds me of the intentionality behind building a life together, one choice at a time. If you’re tackling a name change, my advice: gather your documents, grab some snacks, and lean into the process with grace.
The Real and Raw: Finding Rest Amid the Whirlwind
In the spirit of Thread and Bloom’s honesty, let’s talk about the less-than-polished side of this week. I’m exhausted—heart full, but body weary. Between the emotional high of our wedding, hosting our unexpected wedding-night guests, diving into our callings, and tackling paperwork, I’m running on fumes. I’m not at my physical best right now: a few extra pounds from indulging in rehearsal dinner goodies, sleepless nights from late-night chats with our guests, and that post-wedding ache that lingers.
Yet, in this weariness, I’m finding grace. It’s okay to pause, to rest, to bloom where I’m planted—even if that’s curled up with a favorite book of scripture. I’m leaning into self-care with walks in nature, wholesome meals (farewell, wedding cake leftovers), and quiet moments of prayer. If you’re feeling stretched thin, know you’re not alone. Life’s threads may tangle, but they always weave into something beautiful with faith and time.
Stitching It Together with Faith
What a week it’s been—marriage, callings, changes, and all. Each moment feels like a stitch in the eternal quilt we’re creating, guided by faith and love. I’m reminded of the small acts that build a home: a prayer shared with my husband, a lesson planned for the Young Women, or a quiet evening dreaming of our future family. These are the threads that bind us, now and forever.
Thank you for being part of this journey, Thread and Bloom readers. Your support feels like a warm hug across the miles. What’s a moment of faith or change you’re navigating?
