Our Marriage and Sealing: A Journey of Love and Faith

My heart is brimming with gratitude and hope as I write this. On Saturday, August 9, 2025, my sweetheart and I will legally become husband and wife, beginning our life together with a simple, faith-filled marriage. The cornerstone of our journey, however, is our temple sealing during Christmas break 2025—a sacred covenant that will bind us for eternity. After months of planning, unexpected circumstances forced us to cancel our original wedding ceremony, leaving us heartbroken. Yet, a quiet moment in the temple brought clarity: our love and commitment, rooted in our LDS faith, are what truly matter. I’m thrilled to share this journey with you, my Thread & Bloom readers, and reflect on how it’s shaping the eternal home we’re building together.

A Journey Through Change

Planning our original wedding was a labor of love. We spent countless evenings choosing hymns that stirred our souls, envisioning family gathered in celebration, and weaving our faith into every detail. I imagined the joy of sharing that day with loved ones, perhaps with homemade treats fresh from the oven, a nod to my love for baking. When unforeseen challenges canceled those plans just before the date, the weight of disappointment settled heavily. We grieved the vision we’d held so dear, but we turned to the temple for solace. In its sacred stillness, I felt the Spirit whisper that our love is stronger than any single moment or place. That peace guided us to move forward with our legal marriage this Saturday, keeping our hearts set on the eternal promise of our sealing in December.

This experience has taught me that love is about choosing each other, again and again, through life’s unexpected turns. It’s in the quiet moments—like baking a batch of muffins to share with family or sketching a baby quilt for our future children—that I find joy in building our life together. These small acts of creation, grounded in faith, feel like practice for the eternal family we’re starting, each moment a thread in the tapestry of our love.

Tying It to Faith and Eternity

Our LDS faith is the heartbeat of this journey. As we prepare for our sealing, Doctrine and Covenants 88:119 has become our guiding light: “Organize yourselves; prepare every needful thing; and establish a house, even a house of prayer, a house of faith.” This scripture feels like a blueprint for our marriage—a home rooted in love, trust, and eternal promises. The temple sealing is our greatest priority, a sacred moment that will unite us forever in the Lord’s plan. In the temple, I found not only peace but also perspective: the trials we face, like canceling our original plans, are opportunities to trust in God’s timing and grow closer together.

I’ve learned that faith is woven into both the big moments, like our upcoming sealing, and the small ones, like kneading dough or stitching fabric. Whether I’m baking something warm and comforting for loved ones or working on a quilt for our future family, these acts remind me that creating a home is about love and intention. They’re small steps toward the eternal family we dream of, built on the foundation of our covenants.

Looking Ahead

Our legal marriage this Saturday is a joyful beginning, a moment to celebrate our commitment surrounded by love and faith. But our sealing this Christmas break is the heart of our eternal journey, a promise that will carry us through this life and beyond. I’m already dreaming of the traditions we’ll create—cozy family dinners filled with laughter, or stitching a quilt with love for our children, each stitch a prayer for their future. These moments, big and small, are how we’ll build our house of faith.

I hope this story inspires you to hold fast to what matters most in your own life. Whether it’s a prayer that brings peace, a shared moment with loved ones, or a creative act that sparks joy, every step you take builds your own house of faith and love.
